SUMMARY
The Coordinator of SD Cameroon provides strategic and managerial leadership, develops organizational capacity, and identifies and takes advantage of growth and funding opportunities within Cameroon to achieve the mission of Shaping Destiny Cameroon.
The Coordinator of Shaping Destiny Cameroon is a highly motivated and experienced individual who has the vision and passion to work with various key stakeholders at the local, national and international level to develop and implement strategies that promote sustainable growth of the ministry. He/she reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Shaping Destiny International. This is a full-time position with Shaping Destiny Cameroon, a Cameroonian NGO.
LOCATION
The Coordinator of SD Cameroon will be based in Yaounde, the Capital city of Cameroon.
QUALIFICATIONS
- At least five years of senior-level leadership within an NGO that was involved in development
- At least a Master’s degree or equivalent experience in a related field. A PhD is preferred.
- Significant expertise and experience in managing an NGO with expertise in organizational development, strategic planning, and management
- Excellent written and oral communications, including media and public relations
- Proven organizational development and fundraising skills
- Results driven with proven ability to set organization goals and achieve them with great results.
- Demonstrates successful experiences in working with diverse populations
- Personal commitment to the Christian faith, inspiring and empowering others, and to the mission of Shaping Destiny.
- Bilingual (English and French)
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Organizational:
- Provide leadership, program development, and program management for various mission-driven activities and initiatives
- Ensure that the organization has a long-range strategy to achieve its goals and objectives in a timely manner
- Provide leadership in developing program, organizational, and financial plans in conjunction with the CEO and the ministry’s Board of Directors
- Identify program components/strategies to achieve success
- Engage in advocacy to promote the accomplishment of the ministry’s mission
- Maintain official records and documents, and ensure compliance with organizational policies
- Maintain a working knowledge of significant developments and trends in the field
Team Leadership and Supervision:
- Manage the ministry’s strategic directions
- Recruit and supervise staff
- Conduct staff performance reviews quarterly and upon completion of major projects
- Create a culture that attracts, engages/motivates, and retains a diverse, highly qualified staff; where the best people want to work.
- Reward staff based on merit.
Financial leadership:
- Be responsible for developing and maintaining sound financial practice
- Identify and pursue opportunities for maintaining and/or expanding the organization’s funding base through grants, donations, and other funding sources
- Work with the CEO and staff in preparing an annual budget; ensure that the program operates within budget guidelines
Communications:
- Communicate with local stakeholders and international stakeholders in collaboration with SD USA.
- Establish sound working relationships and cooperative arrangements with various stakeholders, development partners, community groups, the media, and other civil society organizations
- Work with the CEO to represent the point of view of the organization to the ministry’s Board and staff, as well as external agencies, organizations, and the general public
- Manage SD Cameroon’s internal and external communications
