SUMMARY

The house mother manages every aspect of the home, creating a homely environment for the children. She raises children and helps them develop godly character. This includes loving, caring, affirming, and healthy grace-centered discipline.

The House Mother of Shaping Destiny Cameroon is a highly motivated and experienced individual who has the vision and passion to pour into orphaned children and to see them thrive and achieve their God-given potential and calling in life. It is somebody who is growth-minded, loves to learn and grow, and is able to model that indefatigable learning spirit to the children. 

He/she reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Shaping Destiny International. This is a full-time position with Shaping Destiny Cameroon, a Cameroonian NGO.

LOCATION
Yaounde, the Capital city of Cameroon.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • At least an Advance Level Certificate or its equivalent
  • Excellent spoken and written English language skills
  • Ability to speak French is preferred but not required
  • Mature evangelical Christian believer (not prosperity gospel)

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide motherly leadership to the children and the effective management of the children’s home.
  • Perform some tasks and delegate and supervise others to ensure the effective operation of the home.
  • Manage the kitchen, prepare food, and ensure that all children are fed.
  • Ensure that the children are ready for school and are dressed well.
  • Ensure that all children bathe daily and maintain sanitary conditions in and around the center.
  • Ensure that children have preventive medical care and keep doctor’s appointments. Take sick children to the clinic/hospital.
  • Ensure that children’s laundry is properly done on time.
  • Ensure that the children’s rooms are kept clean.
  • Do grocery shopping and purchase other needs for the children and home.
  • Ensure the children are ready (dressed well) for service on Sunday as every mother would.
  • Attend devotion with the children if at the center and pray with them
  • Help the children with school work.
  • Visit children in our foster program.
  • Follow criteria to select new children when instructed.
  • Help children write letters to sponsors as needed.
  • Inspire children to read and do well at school
  • Teach during devotion times.
  • Represent the organization as instructed.
  • Keep any financial records associated with purchases for the home and children, including but not limited to food, medical bills, utility bills, and other home needs.
