Day 3 Wednesday 12/22/10

This day was received in darkness in the home.  There was no power but this was still the day the Lord had made and we were glad in it.  I think we all slept a little longer because of the darkness and only awoke when the morning light showed its beautiful head. This led us to our beloved devotion time where we praised and worshipped.  We focused our time in prayers for [all partners and sponsors and their families, for our future children, for the children that are rejected all over the world that we will love to help]

Breakfast and showers were in order and some of the kids who had suits had to dress up for a video music message they had for the family of Shaping Destiny all around the world.

Before the shooting I had an opportunity of interviewing a pastor we are considering to join our team.  He was a very dynamic young pastor and his application is still under deliberation.

After that, the kids were ready for me as we shot the video…of course you will get this as well once I get back so stay tuned.  Some of the older kids also had personal messages for all partners and sponsors of shaping destiny.  I realized through my trip that not only do we the partners and sponsors love our kids the kids hold us in high regard and they pray for us our families and our needs.  This time at our SD home has truly been an encouragement to my spirit, it has opened my eyes to the magnitude of work God is using us to do and has revealed to me the trust God has for us to accomplish such a great work for his most precious of creation .

After all the shooting we headed back to the building site to meet with the contractor and supervisor for some changes.  They were gracious and insightful and I think we accomplished all what we needed from them.  Our next stop was in Bamenda, our mission to find tiles under consideration which we will use in the building.  We did some cost comparison and got a god contact and decent price that will be able to supply the quantity of tiles and paint when needed for the building.  We also had a chance to pick all the colors we wanted inside and outside of the building.  This last venture took up pretty much all of our day since Bamenda is about a 45mins drive from Batibo, where our SD home is.

Heading home worn out, we get to our home to be energized by all the kids and their wonderful welcome.  Jackie, Sophie and my cousin had just enough energy to eat before bed.  However I was able to miraculously talk to Kenneth for an hour going over our day and praise reports from everywhere.  Oh I forgot to mention that when we went to Bamenda we all wore our shaping Destiny t-shirts and this called for a lot of attention and many people seeking to know who we were.  I gave out one of my cards to an interested business looking man and we talked to many about the work we do and how they can help.  This spurred us to think about not only having business cards for Jackie but having a yearly open house where we can invite the community to our home and show them the grounds and tell them about Shaping Destiny and how they can help…I got this idea actually when I met with Kenneth’s high school principal who said he wanted to have an open house in the community for Shaping Destiny to thank us for the work we are doing for the Batibo community in taking care of their underprivileged kids.  Another day well spent.  My last day is Thursday and I am sad already.  Before i went to bed two of the older boys called me and handed me a letter, Yes I will post the letter online later once I get back.  That brought a lot of joy to my heart.
